The H.O.D. Dr. Mrs. V.V.Patil  welcomed all the advisory board members as well the vice principal and the staff members and focused on the agenda of the meeting

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OUTCOMES (PEOs)DEFINED BY ELECTRONICS DEPARTMENT:

Program Objectives

To provide students with a sound foundation in the mathematical, scientific & Engg. fundamentals necessary to formulate, solve and analyze engineering problem.

2.

All the faculty members introduced themselves along with the committee work they are associated with.

To develop the ability in students to synthesize data and technical concepts for application to product design.

3.

The discussion began with reviewing the existing POs and PEOs of the department

To prepare students for successful career in industry for meeting requirements of Indian & overseas companies

Dr. P. J. Kulkarni suggested that there should be maximum 4 PEOs (Program Educational Outcomes) for the department

To prepare students for higher studies and getting qualified for various competitive examinations

5.

In case of revision of POs Dr. S. Subbaraman and Dr. P. J. Kulkarni advised to consider all ‘a’ to ‘k’ POs from manual as they are and add one PSPO (Program Specific Program Outcomes) in the list.

To promote awareness in students regarding lifelong learning and to introduce them with professional ethics and codes of professional practice

It was also suggested that while framing the PEOs careers and goals of students should be considered

To induce the aptitude of students to work as a effective team member in multidisciplinary projects

It was also suggested that a set of questions be sent to stakeholders, advisory board members, educated parents and industry persons and their reviews should be considered

To prepare students for effective communication and interpersonal skills.

It was suggested to refer some role models of institutes like COEP, VCNA, and SPIT and modify them as per the suitability of Dr JJMCOE

To prepare students to use state of art technologies to solve problems relevant to societal needs

The PSPO and PEOs are to be mapped with POs diagonally

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)  suggested by Advisory Board Members

 

To provide students with sound foundation in engineering fundamentals necessary to formulate analyze and solve problems by applying technical concepts.

It was also suggested that  assessment evaluation of POs should be done through  considering the opinions of stakeholders(outside),employer ,alumni, corporate people and through exit survey from B.E. students and map them with POs.

To promote awareness in students regarding lifelong learning and to introduce them with professional ethics and codes of professional practice

For knowledge related POs 80 % should be through direct assessment tools like examination, viva, lab and remaining 20 % through indirect assessment tools.

To prepare students for effective communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate leadership and entrepreneurship.

For skill related POs 50 % should be through direct assessment tools like examination, -viva, lab and remaining 50 % through indirect assessment tools or it could be 60%-40% based on suitability

To build the aptitude of students to work as a effective team member in multidisciplinary

It was also suggested that the entire department should work together, and send students to IIT Tech-Fest and let them discuss with students there

To prepare students to use state of art technologies and tools to solve problems relevant to society.

It was also suggested to provide consultancy to JJM trust colleges and schools (i.e. sister concern institutes).

It was also suggested to prepare brochure of department for III (Industry Institute Interaction) for consultancy

In the consultancy co-authors from other institutes or industries should be considered

In case of content beyond syllabus Dr. P. J. Kulkarni advised to be done by faculty himself/herself or call the experts and do it. The content beyond syllabus should not be very much away from the syllabus but it should be at the periphery of existing syllabus. He also suggested identifying the gaps in the existing syllabus and calling outside experts to fill them.

It was also suggested to assign a senior student as a guide of a junior student for mini-project and make hierarchy among the students.

The advisory board meeting of academic year 2015-16 took place on 31/07/2015 at electronics  department seminar hall in presence  of respected board members along with faculty and the staff members of electronics department.

The final year project are selected on the basis of technology .The projects are selected  in areas like Microcontroller, Zigbee, Wi-Fi, Embedded System, DSP, Ultrasonic, IoT using tools like Labview ,Matlab

The meeting began with welcoming of all the board members

The allocation of guides for project batches is done on the basis of specialization of guides.

Dr.P.J.Kularani took the review of last advisory board meeting.

The students are motivated to have sponsorship for their project.

It is suggested that supplementary courses and augmentation should be conducted by faculty in their area of specialization like signal processing, embedded system,VLSI etc

The augmentation courses and experts lectures are conducted in the areas suggested and the relevant feedbacks from students are maintained

It is suggested to add IOT  and for details ,  it is advised to contact Mr.R.K.Kamat.

Throughout the semester the labs are kept open for extra time to facilitate more time for practicals.

It is advised to keep open lab for extra hours and make it available for the students.

The students have  completed internship training in various industries in vacation  with their own efforts

Dr.P.J.Kulkarni advised to give more focus on  practical approach compared theory.

In few subjects faculties have shown the videos and clips from institutes like NPTEL,IIT,DRDO etc

It is suggested that the  final year project should be based on technologies like Zigbee, Sensor Network, Matlab Simulation ,SMS, ACOM ,DCOM, IOT, Industrial Drives, Interface, instrumentation, interdisciplinary applications in DSP,PLC applications, RFID based applications, Robotics, Audio-processing, Automotive Electronics, Biomedical etc.

The course exit survey is carried out for all the subjects

It is suggested that guides who are specialized in  above technologies should give at least one project based on above technological areas .

The result analysis of subjects scoring less that 70%  is carried out through feedback from students

It is suggested that the maximum final year projects should be of sponsored. It is suggested to acquire projects from agencies like ISTE, MHRD,UGL ,DST,DRDO Mheda etc.

In the extra allotted time between 4.30 pm to 5.30 pm  the  questions from question papers are solved under monitoring of relevant faculty to prepare model answers

It is advised to get done mini projects from the students in laboratories only and relevant work should be carried  on Saturdays ,Sundays also

For this semester central level plan is scheduled to improve knowledge of mathematics of students

Mr Sanjay Joglekar  advised to send students to take  internship in small ventures for their all dimensional development

The 10 days workshop on C,C++ is organized  for second year and third year students with in-house  resource persons for sake of placement activities as well as to bridge the gap as C++ is not included in the syllabus

It suggested that for workshop and expert lectures the resource person should be called from reputed institutes & industries only.

Mr.Suryakant Dodmise advised to show video clipping of experts from NPTEL,IIT,DRDO to students

Regarding result analysis it is suggested to find the causes  through students feedbacks.

It is suggested that the faculty should prepare  examination oriented model answer papers of previous  two examinations and should  present it to  students.

It is also advised to improve the knowledge of   mathematics of students by providing extra coaching.

It is advised to conduct lectures on topics like MOSFETS, special purpose ICs, Android based applications, serial port USB, CFL to touch content beyond syllabus.

Dr S.Subbaraman advised to send the students for pool campus and also suggested to make use of messages on mobiles for campus recruitments

Dr.P.J.Kulkarni  advised that the franchises such as NIT,CDAC,CMC,ACTEL,Infochip should be called in college campus to provide certified and job oriented training

According to the suggestion by advisory board members , the sponsership for projects in  final year students are made mandatory

The first point in agenda i.e. support for industrial training raised by Mr.D.S.Patil by conveying the current policy followed by department and problems experienced by students in seeking the industrial training.

The center of excellance in Embedded & VLSI collaborated with Ni-Logic ,Pune is started in department to enhance the research activities and project developments in respective field.

Mr. Shantanu Sarda replied that industry people are reluctant to provide training to students might be because of worst experience of students in past training. He suggested that faculty should involve and talk to industry concern. He also advised that the training should add value to industry.

The staff member of the department are encouraged to participate in various STTPs.OBE based lab Development for lab technician  is conducted in our college to enhance the skill of  lab technician

Dr.Mrs.S.Subbaraman suggested that the faculty should develop project and share it to industry and students. She also advised that one day training is not helpful for students.

The exhaustive survey of industry in electronics field and their requirements are carried by all the faculty members.

Mr. Shantanu Sarda advised to take feedback of completion of sponsored projects from industry.

The online  course exit survey is carried out for all the subjects and analysis is carried out.

Mr.Sandeep Khuperkar suggested that center of excellence is required in college and college must be visible to industry. The students are to be enabled (motivated) to conduct activities in center of excellence.

The adjunct faculty from reputed industris have been appointed for difficult subjects of  all the classes.

Mrs M.U.Phutane raised that the department has planned to conduct STTP on A) VLSI in DSP system. B) Real time application of signal image processing.

The experts are called to conduct lectures and Augumentation course in the department.

Dr.P.J.Kulkarni suggested that if resource person is fully expertise then and then only the STTP will be beneficial to faculty. He also advised that the title of STTP should not more specific rather it should be general like “Advances in VLSI or DSP”.

The students are made aware of government campaigns such as Digital India,Make in India  through various media.

Mr.P.A.Chougule raised that the department is facing difficulties to increase the figure of placement despite of vigorous efforts.

Dr.Mrs.S.Subbaraman advised not be so ambitious and expect 100% placement instead department should focus more to increase the eligibility count. She also pointed out that VIT Pune is searching employee for mediocre (average) students.

Mr. Shantanu Sarda suggested to form the verticals on the basis of past placement records and train the students as per the verticals.

Dr.P.J.Kulkarni suggested to have long term and short term policies for training and also advised to have third party such as NIIT,C-DAC to conduct training .
